FTTH Ports Will Exceed 350 Million by End of 2016

CATR (China Academy of Telecommunication Research) recently announced that all-optical network city is being built gradually in 2016. By then complete population coverage of optical network will be achieved in all districts - complete coverage of 100 M optical network will be realized in city homes. Telecom universal service compensation mechanism has been launched in China while FTTH is aggressively promoted.

It's estimated that there will be over 350 million FTTH ports in China by the end of this year, accounting for over 60%. The portion of fiber broadband subscribers will be up to 75% while subscribers of up-20-Mbps high-speed broadband will boast over 50%.
