China Telecom aims for a 4G penetration rate of over 80% in 2016

China Telecom and Qualcomm held “China Telecom Terminal Industry Partner Conference 2016” officially on Jan. 19th, which was themed with "Internet+ driven device innovation".


Yang Jie, general manager of China Telecom, said at the meeting that China Telecom has achieved great reversal in the device field with full support of the whole industry chain. It isreported that China Telecom sold over 90 million devices in 2015, achieving substantial growth compared with 2014. Not only did the device sales increase, but the average unit price also increased from CNY 1,413 to CNY 1,700.


Yang Jie said, China Telecom added more than 91 million 4G subscribers in 2015 and the 4G penetration rate has reached 46%, which is 9 percent higher than the average industry level. In 2016, China Telecom will make more efforts in cloud, network, devices and other fields, striving to make 4G subscriber penetration rate reach 80% and device sales exceed 100 million.
